Savvas Studios began in 2019, as Savvas Photography. I had a vision and George had a plan. If life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans, then following that logic, a plan isn’t life, a plan is death, and a business plan is basically an obituary.
As a Gemini, I never knew what I wanted to be when grew up One day I dreamed to be an actor, the next a photographer, and more often than not a writer. All I knew for sure is that I’d ideally remain unemployable, so I cut the difference and started calling myself an Artist.
My first step as an unemployed artist was obviously business cards, I had some wonderful creatives help me design the logo, and I had the fanciest most expensive cards I could find made. A smooth orange finish, a gloss logo popping out in black, and the right weight and balance to make Patrick Bateman jealous.
The next step was nothing but unapologetic creative genius. I made sure there was no way of getting back in contact with me from the card alone. Obviously no contact number, that would be weird. The website link was in our name but never formally launched as it was tied to Savvas Photography and not the new and improved studio, and the Instagram page was a long forgotten art project.
You may be thinking, am I a moron, Yes. But it kinda worked. The card looked good, it was memorable, and if Micheal Scott has taught us anything, it's the magic feel of paper in your hands, and its effect on the human brain. People held onto the card, people chased me down, people booked my services even though I went out of my way to make myself professionally unavailable.
The power of manifestation and positivity is thrown around a lot these days, but sometime wishful thinking is all you need. Think positive and work towards your goals. With enough drive, ambition and will to succeed the universe is a pretty good wingman.
